Ptosis
What is Ptosis?
Ptosis is a condition that occurs when your upper eyelid droops or sags. You may notice this in one or both of your eyes. Ptosis can block part of your pupil, making it more challenging to see and worsening your vision. Most patients develop ptosis due to aging. The muscle that lifts your eyelid, called the levator muscle, can stretch out over time. When the levator muscle stretches out, you may develop ptosis.
How Do You Treat Ptosis?
If you have severe ptosis, you may need a surgical procedure. The best way to treat the condition is with ptosis repair. Ptosis repair raises your eyelid to prevent it from drooping over your eyelid and impairing your ability to see. Your oculoplastic surgeon will tighten or shorten your levator muscle during the procedure. Your surgeon may also remove any extra skin from your eyelid to help your eye look more open and improve your field of vision. Your oculoplastic surgeon will create a small incision in the crease of your upper eyelid to reposition the levator muscle and stitch it to the eyelid for an external repair, the most common surgical treatment for treating ptosis. Ptosis repair is often combined with a cosmetic procedure like a brow lift or blepharoplasty to enhance the appearance of your eyes after the procedure.

Brow Lift
What is a Brow Lift?
Is your forehead starting to sag? Are you tired of looking at frown lines and deep wrinkles? Getting a brow lift can help you lift and smooth the skin of your brow and forehead. Unfortunately, noticing your forehead is sagging and having more wrinkles and frown lines is part of the aging process. Getting a brow lift at Doss Eye will help tighten any loose, saggy skin. You’ll look younger, more alert, and feel better about yourself when you look in the mirror daily.
What Does a Brow Lift Accomplish?
Getting a brow lift can help relax the deep lines and wrinkles you see between your eyes and on your forehead. If you’ve noticed your upper eyelids look hooded and your eyebrows are sagging, a brow lift can help lift and improve your appearance. A brow lift gives you results lasting 5-10 years, making it an excellent way to invest in yourself and how you present yourself to others. Getting a brow lift won’t freeze your face. Instead, you’ll still have some motion in your face. However, after undergoing a brow lift, frown, and smile lines will form less deeply, making you look younger, brighter, and like your best self. You’ll feel better about yourself while having fewer wrinkles.
Upper Blepharoplasty
What is Upper Blepharoplasty?
If you feel like you look older than you are, your upper eyelids could be part of the problem. Droopy, puffy eyelids can make you look tired, even if you’ve got a good night’s sleep. An upper blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes and tightens loose skin from your upper eyelid. The goal of having an upper blepharoplasty is rejuvenating the area above your eyelid.
During the cosmetic procedure performed at Doss Eye, your oculoplastic surgeon will remove extra fatty deposits that make your eyes look heavy and tired. Incisions are located along the lash line to minimize visible scarring. Your oculoplastic surgeon may also tighten muscles below your brow to give an extra lift and help you look more awake. After an upper blepharoplasty, you’ll feel more beautiful and ready to conquer the world. It can also help improve your visual field if your eyelids have been sagging, making it challenging to see.

Who is a Good Candidate for Upper Blepharoplasty?
You may be a good candidate for upper blepharoplasty if:
- You have excess upper eyelid skin that you want removed to look more awake
- You’re in good health
- You’re not a smoker, or if you smoke, you’re willing to quit before the cosmetic procedure
- You don’t have any conditions like thyroid disease
- You have realistic expectations about what a procedure like upper blepharoplasty can achieve

Lower Blepharoplasty
What is Lower Blepharoplasty?
Lower blepharoplasty is a procedure that helps reduce the appearance of bags while improving the appearance of your lower eyelids. You’ll have excess fat, muscle, and skin removed and repositioned. Any loose skin is also tightened to help your eyes look more awake. The result: you’ll look younger, more vibrant, and ready for anything.
What to Expect During Lower Blepharoplasty
During a lower blepharoplasty procedure, your oculoplastic surgeon will create small incisions along your lower lashes. They will then trim excess fat and skin and reposition any underlying muscle. They will then close the incisions. You will likely experience mild bruising and swelling as you recover from the procedure. You can use cool compresses to help ease any discomfort you may experience. Most patients start seeing their final results after 1-3 months. At that point, you should notice that you look younger and like the version of yourself you always wanted to be.
